DIY Blueprint Juice Cleanse

I’m on day 4 of this juice cleanse… it’s a diy blueprint cleanse — as the bpc costs hundreds of dollars (insane!!) and there’s a plethora of diy stuff online, I figured I’d find one myself… and didn’t realize that last year when I researched juice cleanses I had decided this had too much fruits… it doesn’t really… as I got all the stuff together and there were only some apples and lemons, so I’m not sure why I had that thought last year…
so I’m on day 4, and I’m down 4 pounds… granted most of it is probably water weight, but… yesterday when I looked at myself (didn’t take/post any pics) my stomach was a lot flatter than it has been lately…
not that I’ve been eating inherently unhealthy (often) but it’s just really fat lately… it’s disgusting…
and before you get upset b/c I’m saying something on me is fat – note – -my fat is different than your fat. my body – different than yours, my ideals for myself are different than yours, or the ones I even judge others by… I have body dysmorphia (sp?) big time… it might not truly be severe, but **shrug** I don’t know, I just know that I see myself VERY differently than others see me… we are our own harshest critics and all that, but this goes above and beyond that…
anyways, I was unable to work out for a few months due to an ankle injury and my weight just ballooned. it’s disgusting… I look in the mirror and want to cry… I can’t run still, but I can work out, and I’m trying to do cardio, but it does hurt… I should try swimming, but then I’d have to put a swimsuit on, and I can’t do that…
anyways, so day 4 is a 24 hour shift at work. the actual cleanse itself calls for no solid foods for the duration of the cleanse, which actually might be only 3 – 5 days, but i’m trying for 10…
but it’s a 24 hour day… that I’ll be awake.. .ALL. DAY. and NIGHT… so, I cut up a lot of fresh veggies and will supplement if I need to… but, I’m hoping I don’t have to…
I figure if I do, then at least it’s healthy stuff!! carrots, cauliflower, broccoli, and mini peppers
no fruits – so no extra sugars (yes I’m aware that some veggies have a sugar content, more than likely the carrots and peppers over the cauli/broccoli) but…. it’s all natural, so it’s at least healthier than added sugars…
I’m craving all sorts of things, and I have strayed . . . because my schedule is wonky and I have appointments all over the place and trainings and such, so I don’t get to drink a prescribed juice at a certain time… I haven’t been awful, but on Friday, I had a cracker during the day, and 3 French fries that night, we went out, I was up much later than normal, and didn’t have my last ‘juice’ of the day (which is a home made cashew milk) so I was STARVING and husband ordered some fries… (loaded… omgggg) but I thought only 3 fries was a pretty good feat given that I’m a potato fiend!!! and the cracker was during a training during the day b/c I couldn’t grab my juice since it was in a different building. . .
on Saturday I had a couple of cashews, but I figure this isn’t so bad b/c they’re part of the milk I make for the end of the day… I just grabbed a couple out of the ones I was putting aside for the mix… so, last year when I did the cleanse, I beat myself up if I strayed… this time, i’m not doing that… my sanity is more important … so, i’m not even eating a quarter of a serving of the 3 times I strayed, just a bite basically… **shrug** judge me if you will… tell me it defeats the entire purpose, but failure would be not finishing it, and I have every intention of doing so…

Juicing – Day 2 – Part 1

so… one of the reasons, as i stated before, of doing this ‘cleanse’ was because i wanted to reset my cravings…

i try to eat healthy… really i do…

but i crave junk a lot of the time… and i’m tired of it!!

because – if i crave it, i usually get it…

which… 1. costs money, and 2. attributes to general unhealthiness.

so . . . day 2 is almost done of this cleanse, and i swear that i’m craving more junk than normal…

i’ll go into more detail about the juices and such after the day is over, but i just wanted to get this out there…

i’m craving chips and potatoes and cheese… oh man oh man

well, chips are potatoes, but you know what i mean…

and i’m hungry!!!!!!!!!!!

although right now at this moment, i’m almost at my 3 hour mark… so i guess i can go ahead and have another juice… but.. this will be an amazing feat if i can pull it off for ten days.

 

Juicing Day 1, Part 2

So… let me preface this with letting  you all know, that my schedule is far from normal.

FAR. far. FAR.

i work nights… 7:30 pm to 8 am (at least) and i normally get there at 7 pm… i get up with my husband every morning (that i’m home) at 4:30 and i make him breakfast and lunch and send him off to work at 5:30… i usually go back to bed, preferrably immediately, but sometimes I’m not so lucky… and i get up around 9 or earlier… sometimes if i work that night i’ll try to sleep later, but it just doesn’t usually work…

i work weird days also… i work monday & tuesday… and then friday saturday and sunday, and then the next week i’ll work wedneday and thursday… so it’s a 2 week rotation, but it’s crazy sometimes…

this odd schedule has me wondering about how often i should be consuming my juices… lovely vegan girl and i discussed tonight that probably every 3 hours or so i should drink either some tea, lemon water, or a juice…

so, today so far (at 10 pm) i have had my Orange for breakfast,
i had a Green for lunch around 3 pm: –
Green #1
Handful of kale
– 1 cucumber
– handful spinach
– half handful parsley
2 apples
1/2 lemon
1 inch ginger

OR:

Green #2
-3 handfuls kale
– 1 cucumber
– 4 stalks celery
– 2 green apples
– 1/2 lemon
1 inch ginger

((forgive the formatting issue, i copied & pasted wrong and now it won’t go away))

i say “OR” because i ended up having to mix the two of them b/c the one recipe created more than i anticipated, but not quite enough for two servings… so i’m not sure which one i had first… but as scared as i was b/c of the cucumber and celery – it was pretty good. 🙂
*thankfully!!!*

and i had a Red for a mid-afternoon snack at 5:45 pm:
2 beets
1 carrot
3 stalks celery
1/2 lemon (peeled)
1 orange (peeled)
1 handful basil leaves
that one wasn’t so good… my beets are huge, so i think i ended up putting the equivalent of 4 beets in it… granted they were peeled, so it wasn’t as dirty tasting as it could have been, but… it was very beet-y…

so, right now… i’m pretty damn hungry. i’m about to go drink the other green (see above recipes) but i did just have a green tea, as well as some lemon water…

and… a negative — HOLY CRAP i’ve had to pee 20 times since i got to work at 7… ugh!!!

so i opened the other green juice just now, and it’s not as tasty as the other one… so i’m guessing this is the one i added the celery to.. but it’s still palatable… and i hope it solves my hunger for now!!!

it’s very tangy…

Juice Fast – My Experience – Day 1

So I got a juicer for Christmas.. mainly cuz I told husband that is what he needed to get me (haha)

and when I was hoping that I got one for Christmas I was discussing juicing with a coworker (who is vegan and seriously the sweetest person I’ve ever ever met!!) anyways we discussed going on a juice cleanse if I did get one, and lo and behold – yay!

so… we researched it and decided to base our fast on the Reboot program and a few recipes from a couple of other sites… we were going to base it on the blueprint cleanse, but… that just seemed to be too much fruit… so we found a decent mix between them…

now.. I know that if you drink water regularly and eat healthy and stuff your body just cleanses itself… but… I have these awful cravings for horrible things.. .and I need to get that out of my system… and all these blogs that I have read have said that a cleanse kind of resets your system…

so we’re going to try it for 3 days…

I actually kind of want to do it for 10 days…

it would figure though, that the morning I wake up to start my cleanse I was STARVING… oops. . .

so this morning I got up at 4:30 with husband… cuz that’s what happens…. yesterday I didn’t get to prep my juices for day 1 b/c the jars I had were not the right size and I had to go out and get the right size… so I got them and then I had to run them thru the dishwasher . . . by the time that ended, I didn’t feel up to doing all that stuff… so when I got up this morning, it was just too early to deal with that I had a glass of hot water with lemon and a smidge of agave nectar and then went back to bed so that I could get some sleep for my shift tonight… ((but I was SO hungry!!!)) I slept til about 10:30 and got up to begin…

my first juice was:

Carrot-Apple-Lemon

it was delicious… it consisted of obviously carrots, apples, and a lemon. . .

 

so I set up to begin the rest of the juices for the day…

I went to this little international market for all my fruits & veggies yesterday and spent $40 and got TONS:
15 monster carrots, 8 huge cucumbers, 4 massive beets, 3 oranges, 3 lemons, 2 limes, a bag of 12 apples, 3 bunches of kale, a single bunch of spinach, 5 kiwis, parsley, basil, mint, 2 sweet potatoes, 2 bosch pears, 3 bunches of celery, and 2 little things of blueberries

the problem I’m running into is the size of the veggies… each juice recipe as followed is supposed to create about 12 ounces… mine are creating almost twice that much… so I need to cut the recipes in half for the veggies I’m using…

I’m kind of concerned about the green juices b/c they all call for celery.

I hate celery.

I hate the taste, I hate the smell, and I hate the threads… granted the threads aren’t an issue in the juice… but the smell… oh dear… the smell is scaring me… and I hate cucumbers… yuuuuck

we shall find out how it tastes a little later when it’s lunch time…

so anyways –

it’s been a couple hours since my first juice and I’m actually starting to get a little bit hungry…
